I've got an alternator on an M110.984 ('77 280E) that needs replacement...I rcv'd the BOSCH replacement and I read that the process involves one, if not, two 17mm. wrenches.
However, when I looked under the hood, I noticed that in order to change out the alternator (I also wanted to update and replace the belt too), I have to go through two more belts - the ones that drive the air-pump and the power steering. Q: What wrenches are needed to slacked the drive belts to those two items enough that I can change out the alternator belt? Is everything belt-driven fastened with 17mm. bolts or are other size wrenches/bolts/fasteners involved? I'd appreciate a quick response to this query...we're running out of nice "outdoor" weather up here! ![]() Thanks!
