Intermittent CEL code P0150

The car is a 2000 C280, 55m. I've had an intermittent CEL for the past 6 months. I finally had the light on long enough to go to a local Autozone and read the code, P0150, O2 sensor, driver front. I ordered a generic 4 wire, Bosch #15738, and scoped out the repair, but now the CEL is out. I am getting ready for a short 1000 mile road trip. Should I go ahead and change it out or wait for the CEL light to stay on for at least a few weeks? Does this intermittent CEL indicate an O2 sensor definitely on the way out?

Thanks,

glenmore
