my car is a 1997 C200( w202 chassis).
The monowiper does not go back to its resting position on switching off the wiper. it comes to rest about 5 inches above where it should be hence obstructing the field of vision on the driver's side. i have tried to clean and lube the shafts under the plastic cover but the problem pesrsists. any ideas what could be wrong?-i tried to search the archives but no joy so far. |

Its possible, but it is also possible that it just needs to be reset.

Windshield wiper transmission [attached to motor] is a "steel" worm gear [screw] and a "plastic" worm wheel 3" diameter. Steel strips plastic teeth. It takes more time to remove all the plastic cladding than to dissamble the wiper assembly for inspection, cleaning & lubing.
Although mine worked with hand movement, my inde commented that when it's installed, the windshield's resistance would be enough to prevent proper operation from a bad worm wheel or motor. Slow movement indicates bad motor.
