1994 e420 Speed Sensor Help PLEASE

Hello

I've been reading everywhere and I think my problem is the "speed sensor". Where is it and would it cause these symptoms. No CC engine limits to 4000rpm all gears ABS light on? Other than that car runs fine shifts up down great mileage same. I am waiting on service manual but need to drive on tue for work trip. would like to fix on monday. Car ran great b-4 rear ended. I'm assuming that someone else has had this problem. I would appreciate anything at this point, I just don't want to damage the car if something else.
Thank you
Martin

When systems are computer controlled...have the system scanned for codes. That traction system will have stored codes.

I'm new to mercedes is there a engine light that I can short out to count flashes like some other imports. I have a snap on scanner 2500 but not w// the m-b module is there a OBDII port on the MB for a generic code scan or can I use a test light and count blinks some where.. Does the E420 use a speed sensor or is the speed transmitter behind the spedo responsible for it all. I have read that the e420's ans e500 are a little different than other E and S class when equipped with a V8
Thanks Doc
Kinda in a bind Maunal here on wed have to leave on tue morning..

the traction system can be scanned with an analog (blink-style) scanner thru the 38 pin connector underhood.

Pin # 6 is for the traction system..ABS light

Build this , but don't use the bananna plugs [ they are too large for the 38 pin connector]

..then go here and get the info for the codes on your chassis.

I pulled the sensors on the front wheels and cleaned them up lots of metal on them. Didn't help. Also I noticed in the rear trunk on the passanger side there is a round plug w/o-ring 3 female pins. plug is 1/2" round. it has about 5' or so length. Looked all over haven't a clue.
Thank you Mr. Dalton. Do you know the pin #'s that I should put the red - blk- and extra one in? Also What is the large box on the passenger side engine compartment firewall There is a 7.5 amp fuse near it . Also there is a female pin (I think 7 or 8 pins with a reset button) does that do anything?
thank you

Go to the code site I posted ..go to pages 11 thru 13 ..that will show you the pin # orientations.
You should have a 38 pin connector and the EA/CC module should be pin #7 for the odd lead ,... and led/sw power will be pins 1 for blk and 3 for Red.. you can also use the battery terminals for tool power instead..blk-/red+
Check that site...it has all the info for your system.
