Looking at some W126 SEL's

I have seen some 560SEL's and a 500SEL for sale on my local craigs list..

$1500- 3500 for the cars I have seen. I think thats pretty low for such a car but they might have issues.

What are some issues with the engines features in the 560SEL and grey market 500SEL?

Also.. what is the MPG for these cars...

They are really excellent cars with few issues. The newer ones will have more electrical gee gaws that will cause grief as they are getting a bit old, but the basic engineering is very bulletproof. My 84 500sec was probably a bit cheaper to maintain than a deisel equipped 123. There were few little glitches that I ignored, such as the right side seat belt presenter was erratic and sometimes went on a presenting rampage which I could stop by fastening the belt.

The low price is simply indicative of the fuel economy which is in the low teens around town and high teens on the highway. Then too if you have them serviced at the dealer one repair can easily exceed the value of the car.

If no records of the time chain and rails getting done exist, you get to change them. Not a big deal really. They also burn a lot of fuel, expect low teen's around town.

Good cars as long as you don't mind paying for the fuel.
