Web site for capacities

I just bought a 1995 E420 - happy with it

But it did not come with manuals - am ordering some - vendor suggestions appreciated

But in the mean while - is there a web site that list fluids and capacity?

I'm looking to change trans, power steering, transmission and such - and would like to know the "proper" capacity.

many thanks

That info is in the back of the owners manual.

You can get that from MBUSA.

Do a search, surely that has been discussed previously.

Here's one for the transmission

http://www.peterschmid.com/

From the owner's manual, for the 95 E420:

Engine oil with filter: 8.5 qt
Trans fluid change: 8.1 qt Dex III
Rear axle: 1.4 qt 80W-90
Power steering: 1.1 qt ATF
Cooling system: 16.4 qt
Wheel bearing grease: 60 gm

For the brakes, bleed 250 ml from each corner using DOT 4.

For fluid type, these are my suggestions:

Trans fluid: Dexron III
Rear axle: Mobil 1 synthetic 75W-90
Power steering: PS fluid (Valvoline)
Antifreeze: Zerex G-05
Wheel bearing grease: Mobil 1 synthetic

Thanks for the list

Great for a punch list bring the car "up to speed"

Rear axle: Mobil 1 synthetic 75W-90

Should I just add to the top?

I'd recommend replacing it. This goes with the idea of replacing all fluids as a starting point for future maintenance. It's only about $10 worth of fluid.

Don't forget to remove the fill plug first, before draining the fluid.
