Where is my Tele-aid module?
Seems like I'm having problems with the Tele-aid system in my 2000 E320 (W210) Wagon.
I keep hearing the tone "Beep" then a "click click". Usually I just hear the tone one time when I start the car, now I'm driving down the road and it keeps going "click, click - BEEP" I want to take a look at the connections to the Tele-aid module. Can I just disconnect it? I know that the analog system isn't going to work now. Thanks, - Blaine

The module A35/8 is located in the left upper front corner of the trunk above the shock attachment. The fuse for it might be easier although there may be other items on it. It is fuse 15 in F4 (fuse box).
A word of warning though: as the teleaid is attached to the SRS system, disconnecting it or unpowering it could set a code in SRS. No biggy, it only will require resetting, but that may cost something and a trip to someone who can do it.

I spoke to MB and on my 01 they claim to be able to disable it. I have had no issues so far and have not subscribed after the first year. I did pull the Tel-Aid Fuse, and immediately got an error code in my cluster, it cleared when I repowered it.
The reason I wanted to disable it, someone pushed the button, and it kept on dialing and getting an intercept. It almost drove me nuts! |

The teleaid can be coded out of existance by choosing the proper coding features in the instrument cluster. It could be hard to get anyone to do it though as it is a liability issue. Among those capable and tooled to do it this liability issue is generally acknowledged.

As Steve suggested it can be removed.
However you will need to have the SRS module re-programmed, the instrument cluster, the EIS, & the radio system fiber optic ring re-configured.

Thank you for the information Peter, Steve, and others.
My W210 wagon is a 2000 model year and I think the Tele Aid (version I) is not in the fiber optic ring. I think it is wired separately. I tried disconnecting the fiber optic cable from the phone module in the passenger's side rear wheel well and it did not affect the problems I had with the Tele Aid. However, it now has been two days without problems. I would still like to take a look at the wiring connections to the module. Since the Tele Aid is analog, I don't see why there would be any liability since the network it uses is being shut down. I also bet that there are a lot of old analog version I modules getting thrown away when people opt to upgrade to digital. I'll get a quote from my dealer as to what it would cost to de-program the Tele Aid. I really don't think it is worth the $1800 to upgrade the system on this car.

Station wagon tele aide module may be under middle seat, drivers side.
At least that's what conversion instructions for 2001 state.
