Seat Switch W210

Need some help on the seat switch for 1997 E300D. On the drivers side only one of the memory sets works and on the passanger side the seat back switch will only move the seat back forward regardless of whether I push it forward or back.

First of all does this sound like a bad switch in both cases or could it be something else. Secoundly, I could use some help in removing this switch. I know it is a combined unit with all the functions (seat position, headrest, steering wheel, memory) all in one. Do I need to remove the door panel to get the switch out or is there another way.

Thanks

Try re-sync'ing the seats, expecially if you've had battery issues recently.

What do you mean by re-syncing the seats?

Is a procedure described in your owners manual. In breif, you cycle seats or window through entire range of motion and hold switch at end each range of motion for 5 secs.

May not be your issue but if batt power has been interrupted recently is easy to rule out.

Unfortunately, the re-syncing didn't solve my problem. Anyone know how to remove the switch?

You can probably get this out if you dislodge the bottom 3/4 of the door panel, leaving the top still attached. The top is the hardest part to get out and back in, by far.

There are a couple of plastic clips holding the switch in place. If you can get your finger to one of them, you can easily get that switch to come out. The switch comes out toward the interior of the car.

as Matt said, once you peer behind the panel (which I think is quite easy to
remove) it should be apparent how to remove the switch. just a couople of
plastic tabs to press and carefully apply pressure. be careful not to force
too much or you'll risk fracturing the tabs.

if you need switches, I happen to have two which are off my 99 which I dont
need. (I replaced my E320 seats with those from E55 and which included
complete door panels.) can sell for $50 (+ $5 shipping) for both driver and pax
switches.
