Exchanging steering-gear in 190D
I'm about to switch the original steering-gear in my '84 190D (301.000km) with one from a '91-model. It was fairly uncomplicated to remove it from the '91-model considering that it didn't have an engine, nor the front wings
However; Does anyone have any input on how this procedure should be done? Our local garage calculated with three hours of labour for such a job, and so did the MB-garage. My father is helping me (read: doing the job ) out, but I reckon we need more than just three hours doing it. Any input is highly appreciated! Regards |

My only advice is to center the replacement unit by removing the 12MM bolt on the bottom side and inserting a pointed bolt to lock it in place then center and lock the steering wheel. All else is just hard work.
