I bought clutches and a reseal kit. When I took the front pump off, one the seals was missing a chunk out of it. That was my problem. I put the new clutch paks in anyways. When I put it back together, it ran like new. It now has 204K on it and run/shifts fine.

My 95 E320 has had nothing but regular fluid and filter maintenance on its tranny from new (have records from dealer) and runs like a top at 205K, all original. It really all depends on how the car was driven for most of its life, i.e. highway vs city. This car was all highway driven. It really makes a huge difference.
How hard is it to rebuild a trans? I have a 90 300E that slips from 2 - 3, and was thinking of giving it a shot.

on edit, I see my post # 1000 is on the tech forum, where I seldom post.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd say it's somewhere between 10 and 11. If you make a mistake, you may get to do the job all over again, to figure out what went wrong. Pro tranny shops have a tranny dyno so they can test the rebuilt unit on the bench, before installing it in the car. Saves a lot of time if you happen to put a ball in the wrong spot in the valvebody, or some other little thing.

Is that it? No other problems? I don't think that's a rebuild candidate just yet. Isn't there a spring kit from Mercedes to help with a 2-3 upshift flare? There's also the Superior kit as well. I'd sure try that before spending the time or $$$ on a rebuild! BTW - I assume you've already changed fluid & filter, and drained the converter during the change. If not, that's the first step.
