Help with Cabinet Filter on E320
How do you access the filters. I thought they were located under the cowl under the hood. Don't see an access panel?

Actually, they are accessed by removing the glove box liner. Once removed, slide down the plastic 'lock' and remove the panel. Remove first filter then slide over second and remove. Note orientation of filters to install correctly.
Check DIY section on this site or detailed instructions are available in the W210 section stickies on benzworldDOTorg. |

Go to instruction set 43* (filter #P3631) http://www.boschautoparts.com/NR/rdonlyres/92373679-47EA-4F63-BB2D-B6A9B8509B46/0/CabinAirFilterInstallation.pdf
*not page number - look for number on the blue separator lines.

Reading the Post, He could have either a 124 or a 210..both using completely different filters and chassis , but they both use same model designation. [ E320] In this case , he has a 124 , but he should state that in the Post for future querries b/c of the two different chassis. Happens all the time on those two chassis.

Of course, you are right Arthur. I remembered the earlier E320's after I posted. On the other sites I am usually in the W210 forum so I don't have to think as hard.

I hear ya...
My point is for the new poster to always mention year/model b/c E320s crossed chassis production and a post can not be answered correctly in many cases b/c of the many differences between the two ..[124/210 ] In this case , the fault was not yours and the post got an answer for both chassis...Larry knew which one b/c he went to the guys profile...but we all don't do that ..[ and should not have to]. Just another classic case of why Model/Year is important in getting back the correct info/diagnostics....

124 came out with filters in the 94/95 face-lifted 124s..under the hood access. The later 210 had the filtration system inside the cabin. There were soooo may 124 changes that you just HAVE to list the Mdel/Year...but they never do.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know the 94/95 had cabin filters. Learned something new!

Yes..they did.
And that is why I asked for the Model/Year before I answered his post... He only mentioned E320, BUT an E320 could be a late 124 or a newer 210 chassis..they both had filters. BUT completely DIFFERENT ones and different change procedures....so, I don't answer with a procedure on those post until I get the correct info to go by..then I don't make the mistake of giving out incorrect info. Which is why we preach "Model/Year" so consistantly .. This just happens to be a perfect example of why............. Had he simply added '95, I would have answered his post immediately with the correct info.. It is to the benefit of the poster to list that info , as that gets him many more correct replies..

I agree wholeheartedly. That's a peeve of mine as well. That and not searching for the obvious before asking.

Oh, I forgot to mention "oil" threads. And "using RUG instead of premium" threads...
OK, I'll stop now.

My favorite peeve. The problem there is all this info gets carried over there and justs clogs up the system with Repeats... Too bad cuz this site has the best archieves in the World. People have forgotten how to help themselves.

I ended up looking at his profile, and he had the year and model listed there - that is how I knew.
Then I remembered that someone had posted a link to the bosch site with instructions...you think I could find it in my pile favorites? Thankfully a quick yahoo search gave me the site right away, and I remembered to not only add it, but add it to a special section of favorites for just such sites.
