1987 300E transmission question.....
I am having an issue with the shifting/transmission in my fairly new-to-me 87 300E.
In the morning after driving a few miles and stopping at the gas station or where ever, I cannot get the shifter to go into the Park position. It won’t go past Reverse position and while in the Reverse position the car is in neutral meaning it can move forward or backwards with out problems. I usually have to wait several minutes and run through the shifts before I can go ahead and put it in Park. Sometimes I leave it in Neutral go to the store and when I get back I can start the engine and put the car in Park and shift into R or D without problems. Any ideas what may cause this?? I have had this car for a couple of weeks now and have noticed this a couple of days ago. At first I didn’t think much of it but now it’s happening every morning. I did have a transmission cooler hose replaced a week ago by a MB indy shop. Thanks in advance for any advice on how to fix this.
