Cat converter and sensors

Hi guys,

Im removing my cat converter as it is bad - it is completley legal here in new zealand to remove as there are no emissions laws.

Engine in question is a 1993 M104 with HFM SFI.

My question is, what is the wire going to the side of the cat? O2 Sensor is upstream of the cat, but there is a wire going to the side of the cat. I suspect it is the sensor for the Exhaust temperature light. What to do with it when I just put a pipe in place of it ?
