Smile rear differentail problem

Hello everyone!
this is my first time. anyway, i own a 1989 300e. the rear passenger wheel totally jam. now, sometimes it moves forward and sometimes it move reverse. i was told the rear differential is hoop. i have the jack on block, had somebody shifting 'D', 'P', 'R' and i see the axle (from the transmission) is turning but not the wheel.
That would be just great to be able to get it back on the road. i miss it. PS: I call it "Baby"... LOL (that's the truth...)

If the driveshaft from the transmission is turning, but not the wheels, you need a new diff.

Two ways, the right way, and my way.

The right way is to use a spring compressor to compress the spring, disconnect the lower end of the shock, extend the suspension until the spring is free.

You can disconnect the anti-swaybar and shock, lower it all the way, then remove the front subframe bolt and it will come out (if you don't have a spring compressor). MUCH easier to do with a spring compressor if you aren't replacing subframe bushings.

thanks babymog. got it out... finally got all the rear and out... Man! the last 2 bolts holding the main frame (or the rear end assembly) of the 4 total, was not easy. nightmare, i'll tell you.

now, with all your replies and good knowlegde, is there a chance your could help me regarding the tighten pressure (Nm) or torque i need for all the bolts and nuts in the back (rear end)?

If you have some pics of it would be perfect... hope, i'm not asking too much.

PS: I've read quite a few posts and thread and realized that MB shop are very expensive... and the worst part (not all fo them), they do work or replace parts that do not need too. As I read from other post, BE AWARE! ask on this site for some infos. very helpful that could save people like me thousands of dollars... that is only my opinion...

Thanks to you and all of you out there helping others...

Thanks again
