1986 560sl dies on right turns???
I'm trying to help troubleshoot my mother's Mercedes. It's a 1986 560sl with about 60k miles on it. It ran fine when she lived in Nevada, but she recently moved to Salem, Oregon, and that's when the trouble began.
The car is not a daily driver. It was driven 1000 miles from Nv to Oregon last summer and ran fine. Then it was parked for about a month. When started, it ran rough. The next day, it would turn over, but wouldn't start. It was towed to a MB stealership who replaced the fuel lines and pulled the fuel tank to clean the tank. Now, it will run, but dies when turning right. The dealership wants to replace the ignition control module and a CISE injection electronic hydraulic unit - costing about $3000.00.
Any ideas why the car would die on turning right? I can't see the ignition control module being the culprit. I assume the dealer is just going to replace parts at $3000 a pop until she runs out of money, or they get lucky. Any ideas on a reputable Mercedes mechanic near Salem, Oregon?
Thanks!
