WOW! I fixed my AAV!
I was gettind desperate and sick of my 1800 idle speed regardless of engine temp. I had given the AAV a smack with a mallet a while back, to no avail, so in my desparation, I thought, 'Maybe I didn't hit it HARD enough?'
Well, I was right. I had read earlier this week about how the Jag guys are repairing or bypassing their AAV's. I saw an article on how to disassemble one. They're pressed together. SO I lined up a ballpien on top of the AAV, held squarely and gave the ball a good smack with another hammer and I saw the center assembly, or cartridge move down. Remembering the dissassembly mentioned it was pressed together. I scramble to the ignition and turn the key, and I'm greeted with a very nice slow 550RPM warm (not hot) idle

I will also note that in eliminating that MASSIVE vaccum leak, it improved the vacuum level in the manifold over all and my shifts have improved, albeit only slightly. The car has more kick to it now for some reason, and is nicer to bring thru a drive thru because it just sits there and chugs along merrily with little noise.
