w210 oem xenon headlight conversion
can a '99 oem xenons headlights be wired to work with '99 w210 but with halogens
who can do the work and what kind of wiring would it be it just my oem halogens are busted and i can get a good deal(i allready have one right side oem xenon) on nice xenons and would rather go with that rather paying same and getting halogens |

my friends help out, i am fiting these not to be all fancy and cool but primarely to be effecient, i have two xenons and busted halogens
What kind of wiring will light these pupies up |

You'll be missing the levelers, so be sure to aim them low enough that you don't blind people. For this reason, M-B says that you cannot install them, but I believe that you can. You'll need the ballasts, of course. Are the power supply connectors actually different?

Thats the question are actual headlight connectors/wires will just go right on I do have 2 ballasts and etc I just need to physically wire them and let those suckers shine nice and blue I know a few people must have done this Either oem xenons or atleast aftermarket hid kit |

What I have heard is the xenons are plug and play BUT your warning system telling you there is a bulb burned out will not recognize the xenons and therefore will falsely indicate there is a bulb out all the time. I have heard the dealer needs to reset with the SDS to tell it the car has xenons. I do not know if this is absolutely the truth, but it is what I was told when I inquired about converting mine.
FWIW My c43 has xenons and they are no better than the halogens in my E300 in my opinion so I am glad I never converted them.

I installed OEM xenons in my 2001 E320 wagon in 2004. Plug and play with no fault codes or other issues. Keep in mind that my wagon has SLS so no blinding of other driver issues either even though my car doesn't have the headlight self leveling feature (the headlights do but no switch or wires installed on my car). Much better visibility than the OE halogens. Mark

Its been years but here goes: Remove the plastic underpan; remove the wheelhouse splash shields (or at least remove the first few bolts), remove the front bumper assembly (there is a pull hook that you access from the rear of the bumper that attaches the rear of the bumper to the fender---access is through the wheelhouse); remove and replace the headlights---they just bolt right up and the wires are plug and play). I don't recall if the fog lights stay with the bumper or are removed with the bumper. Mark

are you for real? oem '99 xenons are plag in play in 99 halogen equipped????
also is it necessary to remove the bumper, since i know 96-99 they just come off if unbolted |

I didn't replace mine with HID's, but I did swap out my halogens a few years ago.
The bumper does not come off. You remove the piece of trim just above the bumper (two screws) and the headlamp comes right out. It's a five-minute job. It is so easy that you may decide to replace lamps that way (as long as you don't move the adjusters). Making the new lamp fit properly in the opening is going to be the hardest part. Each of the three mounting points is adjustable and will probably need some tweaking to sit perfectly in the opening. |

If the update ocurred in 1999 then that is how they are installed. If it ocurred in 2000 the bumper is removed to install the lights.

no, it is not simple PnP....but it is close. if you've not had experience
performing small electrical mods, I wouldn't recommend it. you're working on high voltage (12vdc input, but over 20kV) so this isn't the most forgiving mod to undertake. yet, it's far from difficult. you just don't want to use this as a learning moment risking relatively pricey parts to replace. another factor to be aware of is the ballast design. not all ballasts are created equal. depending on the OEM (strongly recommend) ballast which you are using, additional wiring and splicing may be needed. at worse, it may be desirable (safety wise) to fabricate a sub-harness or toss in inline fuse or breakers to each ballast. on a scale of 10 (high degree of difficulty) the OEM HID retrofit to a halogen equipped lighting system is about a 2. agreed, the 99 E320 does not require bumper removal.

Will oem halogen wiring that is set up on car will have to be replaced or what What kind of wiring will the oem zenon need? Also why does the oem xenons go dull??? Maybe i be better off with aftermarket |
