Answer
Depending upon how it breaks, generally random/floating shift point issues.
If in doubt, replace it, cheap and easy DIY. Have a great day.

Does this pin actually break on its own? How? It just sits in there...
I've broken one during removal....but I don't see how it could break while just "in" there...
