air con comp keeps cutting off..mostly on acceleration

air con comp keeps cutting off..mostly on acceleration

the thread says it all. 1988 560SEL a/c compressor keeps kicking off for no apparent reason.. from a stop and while under way.. Anty input on this problem would be great also.
