Looking at a 1994 e320 wagon.

I am interested in looking at a 1994 e320 wagon at a small dealer not far from me. Car is green/palimino and looks clean from the pictures. Shows to have 160,000 miles on it. The newest mercedes I have owned is a 1993 300d. Having owned several diesel through the years I know about them, but I dont know anything about the gas engines. What should I look for on this car? any common problem area's? What can you tell me about the engine? what kind of mpg could one expect with it? It seem a lot of people replace head gaskets on the gas engines, is this to be expected? Thank you for all your help. Also I don't know if it has any service records because I haven't seen it yet, only seen pictures.

Yes, expect problems with

head gasket
engine wiring harness
HVAC

The "drill" on a W124 is to look for records of recent major component replacements.
