I'm glad that Arthur is okay. Not a bad idea, ten years. I'm only a few months away from the ten year mark.

This forum, as do all things in life, has changed a lot in the last ten years. It doesn't even have the same URL. When I stumbled onto it, I and my family were driving the daylights out of several 123 diesels. I posted a question on some obscure forum that was mostly UK folks. I didn't get an answer, but I got a response saying that I should post the question on this forum called Mercedesshop.com and that I would get my question answered by a Pro within an hour. That was exactly what happened and for several years I was really hooked on the forum.

Unbeknownst to me at that time, I was closer to the end than the beginning of the every day MB driving chapter of my life. I would have really made use of Mshop had it been available to me beginning in 1977.

I wish Arthur and all the other regulars that I have sort of gotten to know over the years all the best. I've seen them come, and I've seen them go. I hope life is serving them all well.

I drifted away from the forum about a year and a half ago myself. Actually, out of frustration, I left for short periods before that. Upon returning, it seems that there aren't very many of the old hands still posting, but I always enjoy seeing old names on the posts.

I suppose the ten year mark might be a good time to just move on as Arthur did. Since the ones that I really got to know over the years, some of them even face to face, are no longer here, maybe my changing interests could flourish by moving on. Strike that, with my Dad in the Alzheimers wing of the Texas State Veterans Home nearby and my Mom coming to live with us in a week or two, there won't be time for any recreational interests anyway.

Since I'm not wrenching on MB's on a regular basis any more, I don't have very much to offer any more anyway.

Jim,

I remember some 6 or 8 years ago, your young Son was spending time in the shop with you. Now that he is older is he still into it?

The wrenching has turned into yard work now that I have moved to the country. They typically spend the weekend with me helping out. We have been trying to clean the growth up around parts of the lake. It took four weekends to clean the growth off of the dam. I will eventually have another shop. Always alot of stuff to do when you have a bunch of land around your house and it is an old house. Right now I'm learning all I can about roof work getting ready to re-roof it.
