Rear defroster not working

Rear defroster not working

I recently put the hard top on my 1986 560 sl to find out that the rear defroster is not working. I have power up to the plug where the wire hooks up to the car near the rear seat. Dash board lights that the defroster is on but it is not working. Any help would be appreciated.
