By the way those are 19 Monoblock II's. You may want to look at 18's to keep a similar image to the first picture.

I plan on going with AMG Aero II, ideally 17x 7.5. I had 16" Aero IIs on my old wagon and they looked to small. I don't want to go over 17" because of the ride quality.

Uship was a great experience. I had the car shipped in an enclosed trailer over 1000 miles for $600. I booked on Thursday, they picked it up Saturday, and it was in my driveway Monday morning.

I forget the color code, but our wagon has that same interior. Mercedes calls it "saddle." My wife calls it "horse country brown." It's nice and is very easy to live with.

What about ASR, is it equipped with that dreaded system?
The window tint will come in very handy during the summer, and with the whole car blacked out it will have a menacing look to it. Yes, it does have ASR, but I wouldn't call it dreaded. I don't mind the system, and its not as trouble prone as people think. Plus, heated seats were a must have, which goes hand in hand with ASR in the cold weather package.

I didn't know the interior color name. Thanks for the information.

It was nowhere near cheap wagon territory, but I thought it was a great price for such a nice, low mileage example. The body shop owner is a close friend of the family, so its a bargain there. Stereo junk is a bit expensive, but sorely needed, and I have yet to find the right wheels. I hope to be under 6k into the car when everything is finished, just in case I need to get my money back out of it and sell. I don't plan on doing that, though.

So my 124 wagon looks just like that except the outside is midnight blue, dirty, and dented. The inside is the same beautiful saddle color but with car seats crammed across the back seat, kids' junk everywhere in the back and way-back, and spilled chocolate milk growing under the seats.

If you ever do sell that one, please call me first. I promise the kids will never set foot in it and the wife and I will use it only to collect expensive antiques.

I do have the OE Oris bike rack. If my wagon ever croaks, unlikely I think, I'll give it to you and you'll have the perfect Mercedes wagon.

Nice wagon and good luck on your project!

I'm also a huge wagon fan :-)
Bought ours almost 9 years ago with 67K, now it has 231K and running great! I have installed 500E front struts and 500E f/r springs and sway bars, really improves handling! Also, currently running W210 17" wheels, here's a picture...

Nice wagon.

Man, that thing is sitting high.... Needs to be lowered ASAP.

I agree that 16s look too small. 17" wheels look good, and if you get a good tire (Michelin) they ride decent too.

My new acquisition is off to the body shop, and I won't see her until next Monday. I am a bit nervous because I was able to check in daily on Ol' Turbo's progress, and really look closely on the details. Hopefully they will do the same quality job.

I have quite a few wheel options now, but I have not taken the plunge yet.

I just don't want to sacrifice ride quality too much, and I could use the extra ground clearance. I'm sure lowering would look fantastic, though.

From a practical standpoint, I won't lower mine any more. The catalytic converter sometimes scrapes on large speed bumps and the rear muffler tips scrape coming out of certain driveways with large crowns on the road.
