88 300SE Headlights problem

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas.
My left high beam will not come on, even with new bulb. I have also checked fuses, they are ok. I have an amber colored indicator lamp on the dash that comes on only with this high beam problem. Right hand high beam and high beam indicator lamp work fine. Any thoughts as to what the problem might be? Thanx.......

Check for voltage at the connector; I believe it's the white wire that should show battery voltage with the high beams on.

dhjenkins, Thanx for the reply. I will try what you say. I assume you are speaking of the connector at the bulb. What should I look for if there is no voltage at the connector?

on my 300SE i had a problem with the right main beam ,it would go off after a while ,fuses and connector were checked all seemed fine but the problem persisted .
I replaced the fuse ,cleaned the contact areas and the problem was rectified.
After that i replaced all the fuses with the brass tip ones from a fuse kit.never had other intermittent problems including the fuel gauge .

Thanx Mak,
I will try cleaning contact points in fuse box. I have checked all fuses and gave them all a slight twist to and fro, but never really cleaned them. We'll see what happens.

Considering the age of the car, you should replace all of the fuses whether they look good or not.
