SRS Light On - No Codes - W210

I have a 99 E300 TD. A.T. 168,000 miles. The SRS light flickered a little bit while driving & has stayed on since....all the time....doesn't matter whether a passenger is seated or not. Everything else works fine. No recent work done. I pulled the codes on the Air Bag system and none are present (no current codes, no stored codes). Any advise on where to start looking? How to check? Thanks! -Tim

Brake light too!

Now my brake light stays on also, but no other lights come up on the dash.....I checked the fuses under the hood pertaining to the dash and all appear good....Car runs fine....no other problems found.

SRS Light

Thanks for your help! No pending codes, I checked OBDII and MB1 connectors. Got everything working again except for the SRS light remains on - all the time. The passenger seat airbag light is on as well. After reading more posts in the forum, I'm thinking it's the SRS sensor in the passenger seat. Anybody know how to test it? - Tim

problem solved

The wire to the child restraint sensor was shorted against the seat frame where the wire comes through the seat frame. Since I had already bought the sensor, I replaced it & put a rubber hose around the wire where it comes through the frame to further protect the wire....

You are lucky you solved your SRS light problem. My SRS light was on when I started the car, moved the car out of garage and within a minute or two, the Emergency Tensioning Retractor (part of the SRS system) inadvertently activated, pulling the seat belt tight on the bodies of me and my wife. Now I'm afraid to drive the car since what caused the tensioning system to inadvertently fire is unknown I'm afraid the airbag may go off while I'm driving.
