Moisture from dash vents
After running the A/C I have some moisture in the dash vents. It is not oily and is odourless. I'm guessing that it is simply condensation from running the A/C? Is there a good chance that there is a substantial blockage in the evaporator drain, or that it is disconnected or damaged?

look under your car while the ac is runnung, you should see condensation water dripping from the hole in the firewall,if its blocked you will get excessive water build up in the evap, you will hear the water spinning around when vent is on high, you may even get a mist blowing out of vents,it sounds to me that everything is fine, your ac is blowing so cold that like a cold glass of water on a hot humid day,it sweats on the glass dripping,i think your vents are just building up condensation,if it gets worse check make sure all the water is dripping from the check valve under the car,if your hot noticing water spots on the ground on a very hot dasy after running the ac for about 20 mins, the drainage may be blocked.its good idea to find it,place your finger in it work away any road debris and clean it out.you may notice after wiggling it around that allot of wwater drains out, this is a good thing,it means it was clogged.

This is what I figured was happening. How many drain tubes are there on the W124? Where do they specifically come out?

I'd guess everything is normal- just don't run the fan on low.
Recirculate the air instead of outside will help also Michael |

After using the A/C I can't see any water draining from below, not even a little bit. I think the drains are blocked up. I really don't want to damage those delicate foam drains when clean them out. Is it possible to flush them from above? Can I remove a panel or two from inside and get access to them from there?

I tried cleaning both drains with a coat hanger but nothing came out and I don't believe they are blocked. How else can they be cleaned? I can hear water running if I crawl underneath the car after using the A/C but no water comes out. Does there have to be a certain amount of moisture accumulated before it can escape via the drains?

You can pull the carpet back to see the drain hoses.
In my evap removal pic, you can see the drain hole to give you an idea where it is:

Scary pictures!
There are two drain holes, one on either side of the transmission tunnel. A properly functioning 124 will make two puddles of condensate. For reference, the gold box ahead of the shifter is located directly below the radio. Hence the evap drains are farther forward than they appear with the dashboard and HVAC system removed. MB uses some fussy foam drain lines straight out the bottom of the evap box through the two holes in the transmission tunnel. They will likely flake apart into nothingness if you touch them. That's OK, an easy and inexpensive replacement is 3/4" rubber hose purchased from your local HD/Lowes/etc. |

If the water doesnt drain out your floorboards would be soaked. I wouldnt worry much if they are not wet.
