What servicing should I do?

My car has currently hit the 65,000KM and I have no idea what the previous owner has done to the car.

It's a C140 500....What do you usually do at this mileage??

I got myself brand new filters + oils and spark plugs... Is there anything else that I should do? timing? whatever??

If anyone has a manual for the servicing, I would appreciate it!! THANK YOU

If you guys be precise about what I should do, I'll be much obliged!!

We don't have that car in the US, but I can offer some general information.

Proper maintenance of any car is largely about fluids. If you keep all the fluids fresh and filters changed on regular intervals, then you will be minimizing other problems.

If someone doesn't come along with details regarding your car, I will see what I can find.

Larrybible - Thank you for your help bruuvs...Well, no one knows anything about this car... I'm actually fixing the car now and I opened a couple of threads regarding which fluids I use... I got my hands on Fuchs Titan which I hope is a good choice and I have changed all the filters and I'm currently fixing the car from top to bottom.

But I want to be well ahead to know what sort of service I need to do and @ which KM... Because every car has that...Major service and minor service and all of that.... timing belts and all... I just need to know when does the time come for that!! I think I'll go ahead and do that for now anyway and make my "own" servicing list if no one comes up with the original like I have hoped... and I have been suffering from a dilemma with the Automatic Transmission Modulator Valve.... My car has the white one but a mechanic I know told me that the best one is the Black one and I've seen that there were Blue and Red ones as well.. I heard that the difference between those is just pressure but I want to be certain on which one is the best for my car.... I can't trust any parts on the car currently because the previous owner is practically a retard.

There is something else as well... one of my horns went bust and it is made by a company called FIAMM, I want to make sure if this car actually comes with this because I've made my research and most of the OEM ones are Bosch but some other sites have FIAMM as well.. The thing that bugs me the most is that the FIAMM sounds like a Ferrari horn not like my W140 320 or the other Benz cars I own.

I would appreciate the help..I've been asking these questions for over a month now and no one came up with an answer yet.

Striker,

What year is this car? That will give me the W series.

There is no Mercedes I know of that has a timing BELT. They all have chains. If oil and filter are kept changed frequently, the chain will far outlive the rest of the engine.

Based off your post the car in question is a W140 coupe. Starting off with fresh fluids and filters will be offer a good baseline to start of with, especially if you aren't sure about when they were last changed. Don't forget driveline fluids including the rear differential. Considering the low mileage there may not be to much to do. If the wiring harness is original then it is very possible that it needs updating depending on what year the car is.

How about asking a local MBz dealer in your area? Is that a possibility?

Ivaneroll - Thank you so much for that PDF file, I can see a part of it and the rest is not loading but I'll try to check it out from another computer... Thank you so much for the help and that's more than I need.

Larrybible - It's a 1993-1994 model 500SEC

mbzman - So far from your post I got it covered. More info on the wiring harness, please?.
I do need to change the wiring for the fan because it's MELTED due to extreme engine temp as my car was constantly over-heating but I fixed that problem thankfully.

Cal Learner - The only reason that I would go to the dealer is to buy parts off them and for a re-paint job!! They charge ridiculous prices for anything they want to do.

Striker, I wasn't suggesting you take it to the dealer for servicing, merely to ask for info on the correct maintenance schedule. But it sounds like you've got it covered now.

I guess that I will go ahead and do that as you have suggested but the dealer as from what I know here in Bahrain would like to add unnecessary items whether you're going service the car with them or not.

And about the PDF file I get an error "insufficient data for image" ???? A very useful link and much rep to you!! Is thee any way you can print screen it and post it here?

Sorry the PDF file is too long.

Can you find an independent service agent who knows something about the W140 500SEC's rather than the dealership?

^^^

The ONLY independent service agent is Bosch Service Center and that belongs to the Mercedes Dealer as well hahaha! PLUS, not a lot of people know about the W140 500SEC because it's a VERY rare car in Bahrain and not a lot of people own it, even it I want to sell it, no one would buy it. I've got my eyes on a W140 '98 CL500 Black/Black looks gorgeous, I know I'll be able to get a very low price on it because NO ONE buys those cars!

I'm talking about a proper Service Center. We've got plenty of other places but I wouldn't trust them not even with a Toyota Corolla. I buy my cars to take care of them not to throw them around in random Service Centers.

If it's any consolation to you, the W140 coupes are pretty rare everywhere except the U.S.
And in most of the rest of the world no one want's them either.

Where I reside, a well sorted '90's E class costs more than a W140.

I bought a W140 400SEL new back in '94. I only ever had it looked at in the dealership - and even those guys had technical knowledge problems with it.

You can have a look through this site : http//www.v12uberalles.com/
