driver side mirror * Easy Question*

I was noticing to day no matter how i adjust the drivers side mirror i can not see correctly down the driver side of the car. i have to lean towards the window to see out of the drivers side mirror.

it is also a manual adjust mirror while the passanger side is automatic
and it is more of a rectangle shape and the passanger is more square.

is this a stock mirror oin an 1986 300e?

Yes they are different shapes.

For the adjustment, it may need some lube, possibly just sticking or binding and not fully adjusting. Unless you are a really large person and have your backrest tilted way back, the Germans sort of assume you will sit rather upright in the car, not leaned back like you are sitting in an F16.
I hate it when people do that, I'm probably too German

it is designed to break toward the door if it is hit, so it may be bent out of position, if so it would be folded toward the rear of the car too far, and you could not adjust it ehough to get the view correct. See if you can snap it back into place by pushihg it toward the front. Also, sometimes the glass itself can get cocked or the mechanisms can slip and there is not enough travel to bring it back into position. Hope this helps you.
