I am reposting this hoping that someone can help. the reverse on my 190e is really delayed and weak. from park if I put the car in reverse it takes about 6 seconds before I hear the gear change then it reverses really slow. even if I gas it, the engine will rev and eventually I will get full power and my tires will screech and the car shoots back. if I am on an incline.....even a slight one, I put the car in reverse and it will still roll forward while in reverse. here is my most recent transmission activities: filter changed 5/22/2010.
fluid was changed 5/22/2010, 7/3/2010 (flushed it like 4 times because the pan was leaking from uneven torque) just drained all the fluid from the pan the other day and added about 3.5 liters. I did not notice anything in the bottom off the pan. Today on my lunch break from work it was fine then it started again the next time I turned off the engine and put it in reverse.

Trannsmission is slipping. Sounds like at a minimum reverse needs repair and might as well have them replace the other clutches getting to it. Could try and do it yourself before something goes wrong in there but you have worn plates. Not much to do other than get a rebuilt tranny, used one, or rebuild yours.
Good luck. |

clutches....
mercedes transmissions imho are notorious for clutch wear....i generally think the reverse is usually the first to go...i have 2...a 1987 420sel and a 1988 560sel (for the queen)...
i m 2-2 in the tranny rebuild dept and my indy is loving me... ![]() best to rebuild .... has to be done and better to do sooner than later, as you will may cause more internal damage. lyle in tx |

Definitely the B3 reverse clutch plates.
My experience has been that these plates will wear down to nothing, and the other clutches will still look new. These plates are really easy to get to (if the tranny is on the bench of course). They are the first thing to come out after the front pump is removed. Lots of opinions here on going to all the trouble of pulling a tranny and just fixing one thing, but if the tranny is working flawlessly everywhere else, and you can do the work yourself, it might be the way to go. I did just that job a couple years ago, and so far so good. DG |
