oil pressure gauge

Thanks Army. I dont have oil on the carpet yet.....its just seeping under the cluster to the bottom vinyl piece. There's a little oil accumulation inside the knee panel padding but hasnt come thru to the carpet yet. Guess I'll go ahead and pull the cluster all the way out.$#%^&*(Scared)lol

Thanks,
Harry

I tried your suggestion of running the engine and looking in there with a flashlight. I also put a paper towel in the around the oil gauge. No trace of oil on the papere towel. NOTHING. NO oil! Guess Ill just have to wait till it gets real bad so I can see where its coming from. I'm baffled.

Thanks,'

And you're sure it isn't coming out of the vacuum tubing that goes to the (starter) key tumbler?

oil pressure gauge

Not sure I can see some discoloration near the ignition sw. but its not enough to be definite. I'll look again as soon as it warms up some...if it does. Cold here. Thanks for sticking with me on this.

Thanks,
Harry

oil pressure gauge

Does anyone know if the vacuum pod that goes to the ignition for shutdown is replaceable thru the dash or under the hood? Im thinking of replacing both the oil gauge and the vacuum pod since I cant be sure where the leak is coming from.

Thanks,
Harry

It's really not that difficult

I think it might be possible for a oil pressure guage to leak just a little and make it difficult to see it leaking. Yet if it is leaking a wipe around it with kleenex should surely show some black oil. Maybe you have very clean oil in your engine. Most of us aren't that lucky and our engine oil is black as soon as we start the engine after an oil change. And the same with the shut off valve which is the back part of the ignition switch. Pull off one of the hoses and wipe it with a paper towel or kleenex or a cotton swab stick and if it shows black, that is where the leak is. You can also put a little lawn mower type clear, (see through) filter in the vacuum tube from the back of the IP to the switch. If you start seeing oil in that filter, you will know if you have a leak. There is a DIY thread on that filter install.
