Removing Oil Pan, M103 difficult?

I have a new oil pump and want to change out the gasket on the oil pan. I already have the head and intake manifold off the car and the front timing cover and hub. How much do I have to lift the engine in order to snake out the oil pan from the cross member?
Would say 2-3 inches do? Anyone attempt this? Any hints on lifting the engine with the head off and the oil pan off?
Thanks in advance,
