The best way to kill your W124 buzzer.
I have been toying with the idea of killing the buzzer ever since owning the car. It's very annoying. But I didn't particularly like any of the options offered. The main way everyone does it, is to remove the relay, open it up and kill some random part of the inside, snip something, de-solder a component, and put it back in. This seems to work great, but It doesn't seem like the safest way to electrically do this, IMO. Plus you lose the other somewhat valuable features of the relay (headlights left on, and dome light with delay).
The second way I found is to cut a wire or two at the seatbelt receiver, but apparently this triggers an SRS light. Which can apparently be remedied by putting a resistor inline. I don't really wanna mess with my SRS system for obvious safety reasons. And this only kills the seatbelt buzzer, not the key left in ignition buzzer. So credits go to MBworld user Floobydust, for this find. He mentioned not seeing it anywhere else, and he was correct. Infact, I forgot to bookmark his post initially and it took me a few weeks to find it again. I just did this and it took me all of 15 minutes. All you have to do is remove the instrument cluster. Unplug the buzzer connector, pop it open, remove the green and red/green wires, cut them tape them, whatever. Plug it back in. And now you have no more ignition/seatbelt buzzer, but the headlight buzzer and dome light still functions! Credit for floobydust for the pic below as well: ![]()
