Out of balance?

I've got an 95 s500, I've replaced the tires and had them (both sets) balanced at 3 different shops. The wheels show to be in balance, but the car vibrates between 50-60 mph. It vibrates much like it would if a tire was out of balance. Any thoughts?

There have been several mods to the front end of the W140 chassis cars for this type of problem. Wear in the lower control arm bushings & lower ball joints can cause this.
What BRAND of tire?? Michelin MXV4 I hope.

Out of balance?

I've had yokohamas and now Michelin pilot series. What are the modifications? ARe the bushings replaceable without replacing the control arm?

Thanks,
Lyndon

Lyndon,

The suspension modification that MB Doc mentioned was done for the 1995 model year (If I remember correctly) so your car should be okay.

Assuming that the vibration is not caused by flat spots from parking (drive the car for 10 miles to remove flat spots) then find a Hunter GSP9700 balancing machine to balance your tires. It is the only machine that balanced my tires to my satisfication.

The lower ball joints were modified durning the 1995 model year! ALSO many times the lower control arm bushings WEAR out in less than 80K miles!! Vibration in the front end will increase this wear.
Yes these bushings can be replaced & MB offers the bushing that causes this problem in a pair for both lower control arms! Part number is 140-333-18-14-26 & has a list price of $52.
