(2) HFM W124 Wagons with CE On...Need Guidance
It has been a while and I have two W124, M104 HFM Wagons with issues so here we go:
1995 E320T w/ASR (250k) - wiring harness replaced Symptoms: 1. When cold car will not accelerate under load until throttle pedal is lifted, then takes off like normal. This only lasts a few minutes until the car has warmed up, then it runs like normal until... 2. Hard acceleration under load (high speed up hill passing), car accelerates then "hits a wall" with flat throttle response and bucking/surging. Codes: Module: 5 (EGR) 8- 1 (No Fault) 14- 5 (Stop Lamp Switch), 6 (Starter Lock Out Switch) Thoughts: The plugs look OK but I am tempted to give it new wires and connectors as a first go at it. Car 2, 1994 E320T w/o ASR (220k) - wiring harness replaced Symptoms: 1. This car had the horribly cracked wiring harness leading to the idle speed/cruise throttle control. I rewired it myself and everything was OK for a 6 months. 2. Car runs normally but CE light is on. Codes: Module- 26 (Upshift Delay) 8- 1 (No Fault) 14- 2 (Cruise Control), 5 (Stop Lamp Switch) Thoughts: Ugh, could be anything? Any guidance would be super helpful. Thanks in advance! ~Kyle

Reset the '94
I reset the check engine light on the 94 and did about 120 miles of highway driving. The light has not come back on...yet.
I have been researching the forums, has anyone had the EGR tube cause the hesitation problem that I listed for the '95? Thanks!

I block the EGR vac line unless inspection. You really would like breathing in you carbon dioxide.Neither your car.

New info on the '95
So, I reset the check engine light on the '95 and started it up. It did the throttle bog down under no load (in park, just revving the engine) when cold. Additionally, if you rev the engine under no load and hold it a 4000 rpm it acts like it is hitting a rev limiter. Revs clean and smooth to 4000 but just cycles when you try to push it past.
The check engine light did not come back on when I did this. Does this point harder to the ignition wires/coils? Thanks!

Thanks A Dalton...
...for letting me know that I was hitting the rev limiter. Apparently, in place to protect the torque converter.

EGR
"Apply 10 in. of vac w/hand pump to EGR vac port with engine @idle. Engine should attemp to stall or run very rough.
If NO, EGR is not opening or the tube is plugged." A Dalton ---Performed test, no difference in the way the engine ran the dreaded clogged EGR tube! I will let you know whether it takes two hours or two days to get it resolved! Thanks again A Dalton!
