W201 owners - how far is the sunroof supposed to open?
I'm trying to grease the sunroof on account of sluggish operation. I have the later tilting/sliding roof. There is about 6" of roof left in the opening before it ceases to slide back any further. Seems like it's binding. Is it supposed to slide fully rearward? And how the heck does one lubricate the rails on this thing without taking it apart? The thing is redonkulously complicated. Tilting is slow to respond and sometimes requires help; sliding is quicker now that I greased whatever portion of the railing I could get to. For the record I'm using penetrating oil to clean the rails, and MB Gleitpaste to grease them.

It should move almost all the way back. I'd say 3" remains.

Have a look here. http://w124-zone.com/downloads/MB%20CD/W124/w124CD1/Program/Maintenance/My81/7730.pdf It's the same as the 124, is easy but time consuming to do properly.. Patience.
But I really posted cos I like redonkulously. Fits my brain.
