What articles would you like to see for W202 cars?

Hello all.

I've been working with Roy to expand the amount of tech articles already available on Peach and i was wondering what sort of tech articles you might all want to see for the W202 Chassis.

We are going to be getting a C280 here soon and i plan on tearing it all apart and documenting everything. Is there anything in particular you all would like to see?

I have three W202s to maintain. So far so good, nothing too complicated....yet!

Water pumps, valve stem seals (not sure if this is even the reason for oil on my sparkplug threads), kompressor maintenance.

At this age, there are a lot of cosmetic issues with the W202, due to the amount of plastic used on the inside and outside. The failure of the headliner, audio system and phone interface.

Mirrors

The side mirrors go bad and are bloody expensive to replace.

I have replaced 2 drivers side mirrors now. One was already broken when I bought the car and the other one might have been hit by a cyclist or just decided to give up.

I monitored ebay and was able to pick up some used ones about $80-$110 each. These were from older cars so although they work just fine, they don't have the heating/defogging feature.

C220 Throttle body parts functions and adjustments

There is no information to be located how to adjust the throttle body cables and idle issues, off idle hesitation, high idle, stumbling on acceleration etc.
Thanks!

Idle isn't done by cables, it's done through the air fuel metering and computer.

W202 Articles

I had difficulty getting clear information doing the rebuild of my C230 Kompressor air intake system due to the clogged crankcase ventilation valve. This is, apparently, a relatively regular problem with older models and very expensive to have the dealer do the work. I posted my experience with this work but others could probably do a better job of documentation.

My next problem is trying to get more heat into the footwells which is likely a vacuum flap control problem that seems to be a complex or time-consuming repair. I can't get access to the Startek System so I have to rely on my Bentley manual (not always helpful) or what others have posted here and at other MB friendly sites.

Another site had an excellent write-up of repairing the sticky wiper problem. This could be expanded into a write-up of rebuilding the wiper transmission rather than the $500+ replacement.

Anything to do with improving the economical operation (ie, owner maintenance) of the vehicle would be welcomed. Our experience is that the W202 is a well made, solid, and reasonably economical vehicle.

Thanks,
Paul

What you touched on earlier. HVAC air flow distribution and intermittent air temperature issues.
