W126 560sel ABS light
I replaced front pads (OEM MB), resurfaced rotors then cleaned out old bearing grease and repack bearings. ABS light comes on after 15mph. Anything below that light stays off but get false ABS activation when applying brakes. I removed the speed sensors in the front for inspection since I did not want to remove the brakes and repack the bearings again and found a lot of metal debris on the sensors. I cleaned off the sensors and checked the tone rings.mi sprayed brake kleen on them and used shop air to dry it out and get rid of any remaining debris. Well this did not work. I still have the ABS light coming on. The tone ring is not damaged. I believe the sensors are still ok despite being 20 yrs old. ABS was working as designed until I did the brake job. could there stil be debris or dirt caught up somewhere I cannot see? All inputs appreciated

Easiest way: Get an oscilloscope, and look at the output of each sensor. That will let you know which one is bad.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/288450-trying-troubleshooot-bosch-abs2.html You could lift the front of the car and spin the wheels. You might be able to simply use an AC volt meter to look for differences, too. -J

I do not have an O scope. Could I just use an Ohm meter or Volt meter and probe the sensor while I am spinning each wheel and see what the readings would be. Where would I find spec reading for these sensors. I have looked all over the forums and google with no luck. Thanks for the info

Use the ohm meter when the wheel is stopped, volts when the wheel is spinning. You're looking for the one that seems odd... I could get out a meter and check my car if you like. I actually kind of need to anyway, one of my front sensors is a bit crappy.

On my 86 300sdl, it turned out that one of the wires in the wiring harness of the brake sensor had worn out and cracked. It was where they clip into the plastic housing that holds them in placeon the front suspension. When I removed the ABS sensor and wiring, the wiring literally crumbled. I located a nice used driver's side sensor and wire and all has been well since.
Check those wires!

The wiring seems ok but who knows if I pinched them by accident

My SD does this too. I have narrowed it to the right front by simply running the vehicle and spinning the tyre by hand. Replaced with a few different sensors... still have the ABS light.
So it has to be something between the ABS module and the harness. When the weather is not so odd I will go through the harness and figure out the issue.
