1991 190E Runs for 30 seconds and shuts off

I've read a ton of threads on this but they usually are just a little different symptoms. Only found 1 the same, but no solution posted. The car:

1991 Mercedes 190E 2.3

Car has been running fine previously. Today it got the g/f to work, and wouldn't get her home. Start it up, drive a little bit, sputters and stops. If you really work the pedal you can prolong the stalling for a bit, but not too long. Start again drive another few blocks and it stalls out.

It seems to be working off of about 30 second time cycles. Start the car, it starts perfect every time I don't have to wait 10 minutes like some other threads I've read. It starts and idles perfectly smooth every time. The normal smooth idle kind of makes me not look towards ignition components and more towards fuel. Also plugs/wires/rotor all look very clean I believe it had to be tuned up at some point but don't have a history on it. After about 30 seconds it sputters and shuts off. Pulled the front relay module to the right of the battery, jumped pins 7&8, fuel pump runs but no change in symptoms car still runs for 30 seconds or so and shuts off. The fuel pump does seem noisey / grindey - but runs. Unfortunately I don't drive this car and my g/f seems oblivious to any noises the car makes.

So I'm leaning towards the fuel pump itself, but does it running rule it out or can the motor run and not function correctlty? Could the accumulator, regulator, or fuel filter cause the same issues?

Haven't had much time to look at the car yet so I apologize for not doing some of the more basic checks on it yet. Any info appreciated,

I'd take a guess and say it is starving for fuel. Maybe you can disconnect the fuel hose to the engine and crank it for a few seconds to see how much fuel goes in to your container? I'm not sure what the rates are, but you might be able to finds that while searching.

It could be something as simple as a clogged fuel filter.
