1991 300ce oil cooler leak
The water pipe running from the pump to the oil cooler is leaking at the oil cooler. In looking at the service manual, it shows what appears to be a slip fit with an o-ring at the connection. Has anyone replaced this o-ring hopefully without removing the intake? This is the 104 motor with cis. Big aluminum intake in the way of everything, especially hands.. I was hoping that I might be able to take the pipe loose at the pump and just pull forward to get the pipe out of the cooler, to replace the o-ring. Any advise or experience would be helpful.
Thanks, bdbenz

You can do it without pulling the intake but it isn't easy. If you have large hands and no lift, it may seem impossible. My best advise is to change that seal whenever you replace the water pump because replacing the pump usually causes it to leak and its a lot easier with the pump out. In fact if your pump has a lot of miles it may be prudent to do both at the same time.

Thank you for the reply, and your right. I did replace the pump and that's what caused the pipe to leak. Only leaks a trace when I park at night, and it's slowing. I obviously moved it around during the pump change. Hopefully it will stop altogether, that would be nice!
