Winhere for Rear Rotors?

Hey everyone,

Its that time..gotta replace my rotors on the 190E. Its got a E420 front brakes and SL600 rears. The SL600 rear brake rotors are not cheap at about 50-60/each (same cost as front).

I saw that the Winhere ones are about $30/each.. I know this brand is often carried by local parts stores so I was wondering if anyone has ever used them?

My brake pads look like they're got plenty of life left in them..so I dont think I'll be replacing those...

Seems my options for rear are:
Brembo ($51ea)
Zimmerman ($74ea)
Winhere ($40ea)

I've never really felt the need to spend big on brake discs, I would feel pretty comfortable in buying cheaper ones.
I would however wait until you need pads, then replace the rotors. I would run the old pads on new rotors, I'm sure the rotors will be fine until new pads are required, unless you are seriously under the min spec on the discs, like 1 mm under the min, then I would start worrying about how far the pistons are stick out of their bore.

Well my problem is my rotor are warped/rusted. The car has been sitting for quite a while.

Did you mean:
"I wouldn't run the old pads on new rotors"?

Get the Brembos ( or other high quality non boutique rotors ) $ 51 each isn't bad and what I'd expect to pay for quality. Brembo is a OE supplier to some auto makers.

Many times low price rotors are not balanced, use metal the rusts badly and , if vented , sometimes have massive core shift. Core shift is where the vent holes are not centered between the two sides of the rotor. This unevenness leads to early warpage of rotors and sometimes a tire balance problem that won't go away no mater how many times the tires are balanced.

On cars with unitized hub / rotors ( mostly rear drive American cars / trucks ) I will not install low cost ( China ) rotors because the hub can break out.

As for old pads on new rotors, as long as the friction material is flat and square to the backing they are OK to reuse.

All of that said, I was able to score someone's last 4 piece set of new in box Brembos to fit my SL for $ 80 including shipping.

This is what I was thinking too. Just getting Brembo's all around and re-bedding my Axxis pads.

I have a similar thread over at the w201 section of benzworld and one guy recommended Disc Brake Rotors & Pads | R1Concepts.com for rotors. I did some reading over at BW and they seem to like them quite a bit. Price is on par with everyone else (at-least in their "E-Line/Slotted"). Evidently they offer a 15 or 30% discount to BW members.

Has anyone on here ever dealt with or used their products? At least two of the members on BW were pretty enthusiastic about their recommendations. One guy was having them shipped in to Italy.

ATE or Zimmerman ALL the way. I have had brembo warp in the rear, and Winhere = CHINA. Balo is also potential China. I now use the ATE/ATE Pro/Zimmerman rotors only and have never had another issue.

Remember, you get what you pay for.
