'89 300SE Shifts to quick!

Hey guys,

I have had my '89 300SE for about 3 weeks now. I sold my beloved '80 300TD to my next door neighbor

The car had been sittng for over a year. I had timing gear etc and valve seals put in. For the first week or so the transmission shifted nicely....almost, slightly to late. Then suddenly last week it started to shift early...WAY early. Its in 4th by 30mph. I can manually shift it with no problems, and the shifts are nice and firm either way.
I have searched and everything points to the Bowden cable. I have adjusted that a good many turns in either direction with no difference at all. I have unplugged vacuum and no difference at all. I thought maybe Bowden came loose from trans but when you disconnect the ball/socket and pull, you can feel good resistance and spring back.
I have also replaced my kick-down switch(trans also does not kick down when floored)

ANY IDEAS??

The small arm that the bowden cable attaches to might be binding, makes sense since the car has been sitting. Make sure the pivot is moving freely, usually just a drop or 3 of ATF will free it up. Then make sure the cable is adjusted properly. Also make sure the ball socket has a dab of grease in it.
