ASR+ABS+?
Guys,
I've been fighting a limp home problem for over 2 years. ('93 320CE 208K) Have done all of the suggested cures. It is temperature related, happens only 1-2 times first thing, then nothing for the rest of the day. We have tried different controllers, pulled relays on the ABS unit, all with no success. The fact that the "triangle" does not light when we have limp home, started me thinking: "What ELSE would send the system into limp home besides ASR and ABS?" (The triangle DOES light on normal use) Any one with any ideas on this? Anziani '93 320CE 208K (The limp home special) '95 E420 128K |

Have you tried connecting a volt meter & watching the voltages from the alternator WHILE the problem is happening?
Does both lights come on? OR only the ASR lamp?

mbDoc,
Yes, I had a setup out of the cig lighter for weeks. There is a new alternator, voltage regulator, and battery. Watched the voltage and never varied out of normal 13+-14 My suspicions that it is not ASR or ABS are because NO lamp lights when I am in limp home. The car is a federal car and has no CE light. The funny thing is that it has no ASR nomenclature silk screened in the instrument panel but does have the yellow triangle. The triangle works when I break the rear end loose so I know that that system is OK. The car has the wheel speed sensors and the black box over the ABS unit. There is an ASR controller on the firewall, so I assume that I have ASR. There are a couple of retired Benz wrenches that I have shown the car to. Followed their suggestions but we have struck out.
