95 E320 BURNT GROUND WIRE

I was changing my coolant bottle and cleaning the battery area and I noticed a small brown wire in a group of 4 wires connected to the middle nut on the RHS shock tower and a lot of the insulation was melted off ,and I was wondering if anyone has seen this before and what it may be a ground for everything with the car seems to work well .

Could be these can help, but they are for 86-89. The .75 brown wires are grounds for some major components like CIS-E Control unit, AC compressor control unit and heated oxygen sensor.

I would check that out thoroughly...

On my e320 wagon the dash harness was damaged all the way from the fuse box to the ground wires you're talking about.

There was a recall on these cars to correct a problem with wires shorting out down in the passenger footwell. Some additional padding was placed around the points that were causing the problem. I'm not sure how you would check to see if this was done. Possibly a local dealer could assist by running your vin #.

Hopefully you've caught the problem early enough that it won't be a big problem to repair.
