04 SL600 replacing aux coolant pump
Replacing the intercooler coolant pump. Anyone done one? Any words of wisdom? Looks like it should come out from the bottom. Will an "off the shelf" coolant vacuum fill system work on this application? Anyone have the precedure handy?

Jim, Pull the splash shields from the lower pass side under radiator. Should have room to pinch off the hoses. Swap her out.... I think it books out at like .5hrs no big deal.........

It is the pump on the drivers side that I'll be replacing. Looks a little more cumbersome than the one on the passenger side.

I'm not specifically familiar with this car, but on some of the other intercooled engines there is a specific and finicky bleed procedure. For example the 55K engine is very particular with regard to bubbles in the intercooling system. If not thoroughly bled you end up with high intake air temps and the engine pulls timing, dumps boost, and generally runs like kaka.

AAAHHHH, I scanned your original post too fast. I havn't done one of those. All-Data shows the procedure from the mercedes manual. It appears that you must remove the front bumper/fascia. As far as bleeding it out, i'm unsure. But if you have the space to pinch off the hoses that's the way to play......
