Question 97 E420 Question - ABS ASR

Okay so I did a search on the ABS/ASR issue and the dash warning lights being on. I've gotten the impression that the simple fix is replacing the brake switch under the drivers side dash. Would most agree with this?

My issue is this: last week after a drive I pull up to a stop light put my foot on the brake and both ABS and ASR lights come on. They've been on ever sense.

Feedback appreciated!!!!

I think you might be right.

A couple of things you can also check that points to the brake stop switch are if your cruise control no longer works and if your brake lights don't work.

Brake lights and cruise still work. So, would it still be the switch?

Still could be. On my white E430, the brakes and cruise still worked, but the brake stop switch fixed the problem.

On my current burgundy E430, the brake stop switch cause the cruise and brake lights to not work.

In any event, it's a $19 part, and they fail frequently.

Dirty/faulty ABS sensors at the wheels may be problem as well, also make sure you have the correct tires size and pressure on all 4 corners, a difference in the circumference of the tire can trigger the ABS light.
