190E Cosworth cold running problems

Hello All,

I am having some issues with my 1986 16valve 190E.

It has a "surging" problem when the engine is cold. I start the car is pull out and start accelerating. When i get to about 4000 RPM, it feels like the car hangs, then begins to accelerate again then repeats. If i try to power through it the car really starts to bang backwards and forwards.

Once the engine is up to operating temperature or after about 5 minutes, this problem ceases.

Only other symptom is the car has a weak idle and this is present all the time.

Any help is appreciated.
