190e driveshaft center support bearing question

Ive located my problem on a 1985 cossie 190e w/ 5spd driveshaft noise ,after seperating the driveshafts it shows a sloppy trans support ,worn center bearing support for the driveshaft ,and the rear flex disc which was toast.I have all my parts but have come across another issue about how to remove the old center bearing off the shaft ,the bearing has 2 covers on either side but are soft metal ,a bearing seperator with a bench press is accessable ,should I set the seperator behind the bearing?I dont see any c-clips in play .The Reason I ask is I was told that Mercedes has driveshafts were the u-joints are un servicable ,I wont try to remove the center support bearing if this is the same case, just buy a new bearing mount and ride with the old bearing.
