What would one do? Without a forum like this?

I just had a hole fixed in my leather seat at a local upholstery shop. Was thinking, while your in there can you see if the previous owner's upholstery shop reversed the wiring?

None of the interior lights worked. I put bulbs in the dome light and they worked with the on/off switch, but not the setting controlled by door jamb switch.

It turned out that the Driver's door jamb would only work by pressing the switch deeper than the door could possibly push it. So the previous owner removed all the interior light bulbs so the battery would not drain.

The switch costs $8.12 tax included. It took one minute swap the bad one out and replace with new one.

Now the interior lights work. Also, when locking the car communicates visually with three blinks that it is locked.

Water leaking in the trunk? Put a small swimming pool in the trunk to catch the water!

Get more work done, offend fewer people, and get the recommended seven hours of sleep. Just joking as I have saved many $$$ with this communities help.

No Offense to Peaches or Pelicans!

No Offense to Peaches or Pelicans!

I was suggesting that someone without the resource we share here would do some silly things to fix something they didn't understand.

Thanks to all the Peaches who share their experience here. I have been working on this car for a month, using the search feature to find answers to questions I had.

I just fixed my trunk leak by replacing the rubber gasket going around the trunk opening. Found one on Amazon.com for $20 something. Mercedes parts wanted around $150. I used 3M Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive to glue it on.

I determined the trunk gasket was leaking by placing paper towels in the trunk down below the rear window. Then closing the trunk, then running the hose along the lower rear window area. Parts of the paper towel were wet when I opened the trunk again.

You can do that all around the trunk - by tail lights, antenna, etc. to find where it is leaking.

Next, after it dried, I placed a piece of regular paper between the trunk top and the gasket by the rear window where it was leaking, and closed the trunk. Then I was able to pull and push the piece of paper in and out of the trunk - there was a gap between the top of the gasket and the trunk top (gasket not pressing tight against trunk top).

In other areas the gasket was pressing snugly against the trunk top and difficult to move the piece of paper. Also not leaking in those areas.
