Take the car back to the "store" and have their personnel resolve the problem. I doubt that a pump is involved with opening the trunk remotely, more likely an electric solenoid.

Why would a grocery bagger solve the problem? X2 on vacuum or electric though, could easily be a loose or dirty connector.
