Difference between 722.607 & 722.608
Forum Members,
I always keep on the lookout for possible replacement parts for my car that I might need. If I can get them cheap, then I buy and keep them as stock "just in case". I'm asking because I have an opportunity to get a 722.607 trans out of an E320 parted out car here in Chicago. The trans only has 50k and I can get it for cheap. -Does anyone know the differences between the 722.607 and 722.608 transmission? -Will a 722.607 transmission work in my E300 Turbo Diesel which calls for the 722.608 trans? Thanks for any help.

You would need to swap over the front of the transmission (converter housing) the .607 was used on M112 equipped W210's and W208's.
The .608 was used only on W210's with the OM606.962 engine.

Got it. So what you're saying is that in addition to the transmission, I should get the torque converter off the car as well. This way everything will mate up properly?

No, you need to take the front half off of the .608 and swap it to the .607. You will also need to use the .608 torque converter
It's not really a fit for your car, but if your handy you could use the .607
